Surgical treatment of snoring with bipolar radiofrequencies

In our Department we normally use radiofrequencies for surgical treatment of snoring. In the first part of surgical approach (palatal phase) a bipolar terminal is framed in five determinated points of the soft palate for 10/15 seconds (for each position). This technique removes the exceeding tissue immediately and determinates a coagulation which progressively becomes a scarification. In the second part of surgery (nasal phase) the probe is inserted into the head of inferior turbinate. The procedure is performed in local or general anaesthesia and shows a good compliance for the patient. Nasal packing is not required. One week after the treatment the snoring starts to decrease day by day; best results have been observed after one month; sometimes it is necessary to repeat the surgical treatment for the best final result.
