Most likely written in 1519, the «Lettera a Leone X» is an epistle with remarkable historical, artistic and literary worth, which is debated to have been written either by Baldassarre Castiglione or by Raffaello Sanzio. This research has two primary purposes. Firstly, to investigate Castiglione’s degree of authorship of the letter, seeking for typical expressions or themes that may recall to the Mantuan Count. Secondly, in order to precisely establish who wrote or inspired the text, the aim is to describe the ‘inner voice’ of the «Lettera», a merging between Raffaello’s and Castiglione’s souls and personalities.
