A multi-focusing method for quantitative subsoil inverse scattering (IS), which enhances an inexact-Newton (IN) technique by means of an iterative zooming strategy, is considered. The approach simultaneously exploits multi-chromatic scattered field data from a set of multi-static probes above the air-soil interface. Numerical experiments have been carried out in order to analyze the performance of the developed technique versus the depth of buried objects, as well as in the presence of inhomogeneous targets. The presented results demonstrate the advantages of the multi-focusing approach in challenging scenarios as compared to a standard single-resolution IN method in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
