Abstract
In addition to the works of the ancient land surveyors, a group of texts has been handed down, received under the name of various otherwise unknown authors, to which is sometimes added the name of some emperor of the Valentinian-Theodosian dynasty. The stylistic features and some observations on the content allow us to hypothesize that they are excerpta from works aimed at teaching as well as exercising the profession of land surveyor in late antiquity. These works were often drawn up through the use of reports of the activity carried out by imperial officials sent on a mission for affixing termini and tracing boundaries in various parts of the Empire. In some cases it is presumed that the work included, perhaps in an appendix, lists of the various types of termini with the relevant descriptionsI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
