CEDAW: una carta dimenticata? A mo’ di introduzione alla call for papers

The essays in this monographic section come to publication in correspondence to the 40th anniversary of the entry into force at international level of the Convention on the Elimination of all Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW, 3 September 1981) and they wish to stimulate a deeper analysis on CEDAW in the field of Italian and comparative constitutional law. Thanks to the work of the CEDAW Committee, the CEDAW has overcome the criticism that in the years immediately following its entry into force affected its effectiveness and it stands now as an important reference point in the field of women's rights. It therefore deserves to be re-discovered mostly in the present days when on the one hand women's rights seems to be once again at the center of public debate but, on the other hand, we are witnessing renewed forms of discrimination and violation of these same rights also in the European context.
