The paper studies the evolution of constitutional rules about relationship between State and religions in the case of Cuba. Starting from a short overview of the pluralistic religious landscape of the island, the paper analyses the relationship between State and religions in Constitutions and draft Constitutions of 19th and 20th centuries, before and after the independence. Then it focuses on the problematic features of such a relationship after the introduction of a socialist regime. The final part is devoted to the innovations 2019 Constitution introduced and to possible future developments on the subject.
