This article analyses the treatment of anglicisms in a comics contemporary corpus from Québec as well as the information extracted from a special questionnaire that we have submitted to authors and publishers, in order to compare language practices on the matter and their representations. First, we have examined the corrections made by correctors on an album. Then, we have classified the anglicisms which were highlighted as such by correctors according to different types and we have compared our conclusions with data coming from the answers to our questionnaire. These seem to indicate a pragmatic and generally inclusive approach by the authors, more normative by the editorial correctors.

Abstract

This article analyses the treatment of anglicisms in a comics contemporary corpus from Québec as well as the information extracted from a special questionnaire that we have submitted to authors and publishers, in order to compare language practices on the matter and their representations. First, we have examined the corrections made by correctors on an album. Then, we have classified the anglicisms which were highlighted as such by correctors according to different types and we have compared our conclusions with data coming from the answers to our questionnaire. These seem to indicate a pragmatic and generally inclusive approach by the authors, more normative by the editorial correctors.
