Fog computing has been proposed to improve the cloud computing functionality by moving computation and storage resources closer to end-users, thus reducing end-to-end latency to make new personal services available. However, a number of issues need to be overcome in order to deploy this new technology, which include scalability of user localization and data migration, along with new ways of interactions among the involved stakeholders. In this respect, this paper proposes an intercommunication layer that allows to isolate the physical resources while managing the migration of service instances according to the user's position. Moreover, the introduction of specific mechanisms ensure personal services are deployed in a lightweight fashion. Test results will show how such mechanismsguarantee service migration to be seamless with downtimes reduced up to 3 orders of magnitude.
