Monumenti funerari italiani del primo Trecento: ricostruzione e musealizzazione. Problemi di metodo e casi di studio

The problem of the text, i.e. the philological analysis of the remains and their historical, archaeological and critical verification, is a prerequisite for a correct approach to the study of medieval funerary monuments (almost always complex syntheses of architecture, sculpture, painting directly connected to the destination space) both in their historical-artistic values ​​and in those of communication. Asking the question of the textual verification of these artefacts leads to questioning the limits of a posteriori interpretation and the risks of overinterpretation, as well as the legitimacy of methodologies now used and notions (such as that of 'typology') whose indiscriminate application can prove to be misleading and ideological.
