This paper deals with the control of aggregated domestic thermostatic loads, as refrigerators and water heaters, in order to provide an effective support to the primary frequency regulation, without compromising the secondary frequency regulation and the customer comfort. The analyzed control strategies are those defined by ENTSO-E and three alternative strategies proposed in the present paper. The dynamic models of the aggregated loads are implemented and tested in the MATLAB/Simulink™ platform. Several simulations of a model of the Sardinian electrical grid are performed to evaluate the impact of the considered control strategies on the provision of frequency regulation services.

Abstract
This paper deals with the control of aggregated domestic thermostatic loads, as refrigerators and water heaters, in order to provide an effective support to the primary frequency regulation, without compromising the secondary frequency regulation and the customer comfort. The analyzed control strategies are those defined by ENTSO-E and three alternative strategies proposed in the present paper. The dynamic models of the aggregated loads are implemented and tested in the MATLAB/Simulink™ platform. Several simulations of a model of the Sardinian electrical grid are performed to evaluate the impact of the considered control strategies on the provision of frequency regulation services.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
