The text of Diego Moreno “Dal documento al terreno” (Il Mulino, 1990) collects research experiences of historical geography and ecology carried out by the Author since the 1970s. It has been the main reference for generations of PhD students, undergraduates, graduate students and for many who have approached the history of rural landscapes and that of the use of the resources that shaped them. After almost thirty years, the proposed research criteria are still so current, if not innovative, so that it was considered appropriate to present them in a new edition, enriched by long summaries and captions of the fi gures in English and by numerous contributions of researchers who have come into contact - and in many cases have long collaborated - with the Author. They are geographers, historians, ecologists, archaeologists, foresters and botanists, who recall here the main themes of the 1990 proposals, bearing witness to the role they have had on a personal, national and European level and their inter-trans-disciplinary character. Historical geography and ecology, as interpreted by Moreno and the LASA research group, have experimented the convergence of a multiplicity of sources and methods to be crossed for the study of single sites and landscapes. Despite having given good results even on the applicative level, these research approaches are still too little known and practiced, especially in Italy.

Abstract
Despite having given good results even on the applicative level, these research approaches are still too little known and practiced, especially in Italy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
