In the mid–20th century, Lucio Ambruzzi mentioned in his Spanish Grammar for Italian learners Tomás Navarro Tomás as the principal textual source of his explanations about the pronunciation of Spanish letters. This study deals with the analysis of the presence of phonetic terms along the seven editions of the L. Ambruzzi’s Nuovo dizionario spagnolo-italiano e italiano-spagnolo. It also identifies the DRAE’s Suplementos as the main source of L. Ambruzzi in what concerns the revisions of the entries of phonetic terms that appear in the seven editions of his dictionary.

Abstract
