Abstract

Envisaging an alternative interpretation of places, in order to introduce new architectural values and to stress the deeper capacity of mapping technique, was at the center of the action-research Recycle Hannover: Urban Voids and Productive grounds. The potential of mapping along with procedure of survey and data collection, lies in its inventiveness to assemble transformative scenario about the perceived “reality” of a place. The aim was to demonstrate the possibility and convenience of an urban development working on the vacancy as well as on the underused areas of Hannover city (empty plots, abandoned sites, vacant infrastructures, peripheral contexts), by exploring the operative impact of urban recycle.
