This paper presents a simulation study carried out within a private healthcare facility with the aim of understanding whether the healthcare facility is able or not to handle a greater flow of incoming patients and which would be the effect on the healthcare facility efficiency. Furthermore, the simulation model is used to point out the need to carry out an internal work reorganization in order to improve the overall efficiency of the healthcare facility. In the first part of the paper a complete description of the main processes and activities that take place in the healthcare facility is proposed. Then the simulation model development is presented. In the final part of the paper simulation analyses and results are presented and discussed.
