The problem of fighting antibiotic resistances, optimizing antibiotic usage and patients’ care is one of the topics on which the scientific community is currently operating. For this purpose, the European Union has financed in 2012 a cross border project, involving Italy and France, focused on the design of a platform for the collection of data related to antibiotic resistance and data on surveys among populations at risk. These goals will be achieved by comparing the differences between the two countries in prescribing patterns and their related usage. By now, the platform is at a prototypal level, available online and filled with nearly a hundred of patients’ data.

Abstract

The problem of fighting antibiotic resistances, optimizing antibiotic usage and patients’ care is one of the topics on which the scientific community is currently operating. For this purpose, the European Union has financed in 2012 a cross border project, involving Italy and France, focused on the design of a platform for the collection of data related to antibiotic resistance and data on surveys among populations at risk. These goals will be achieved by comparing the differences between the two countries in prescribing patterns and their related usage. By now, the platform is at a prototypal level, available online and filled with nearly a hundred of patients’ data.
