The stray current intensity depends on several factors (traction current, rail insulation, concrete mat and piers resistance), that are accounted for in the proposed model. Moreover, the effect of a uniform or multi-layer soil model is considered, showing the differences and the impact on the countermeasures with respect to a uniform soil model simplifying approach.
