The main purpose of this essay is to answer a very general question that may be posed in the following terms: can reasons for action be defeasible? Any position regarding this issue will entirely depend on how the terms under consideration are understood. The first part of the essay is focused on the notion of defeasibility and the second part on two different conceptions of reasons. Depending on what conception we adopt we will obtain two distinct answers to the initial question.
