This work is necessary to choose Cesare VIazzi’s paintings around which is confirmed the show sponsored by Alessandria’s town council. This study is the first structural one that speaks about the problem of landscape in Viazzi’s work, generally well known as portrait and human form painter. In a critical view of his activity, necessary to explain his landscape picture works, has been studied his activity in Tourin’s Academy, three years in Rome and the years in teaching at the Accademia Ligustica in Genoa, to point out the importance of these experiences also because of his relationships with the greatest Italian artists of those years. So, his landscape paintings can be considered as a good example of cultural updating and meeting with the European cultural milieu but it also reveals a lyrical sensibility and a deep emotional relation with his area.
