Abstract
In the architecture of Charlemagne (771-814) and Louis the Pious (814-840) the late ancient construction techninques integrate with elements of Merovingian tradition, creating a varoius archietecture taht is also consistent with religious and political needs architecture: this kind of needs arose from the political program of the Carolingian court. This architecture is realized in the construction of buildings that are characterized by a sense of majesty, made manifest by vigorous language in which, the use of articulated materials of construction, the adoption of measured proportional ratio, the orderly and functional disposition of liturgical spaces and furninshings, the composition of broad and slender masses at the ends of the buildings, blend with the process of spiritual integration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
