Abstract

A multi-source illumination framework is used for the detection of cylindrical inhomogeneities. The scatterers are modeled as multiplayer elliptic cylinders. The electromagnetic inverse problem is recast as an optimization problem, which is solved by an efficient memetic algorithm. The memetic algorithm combines genetic operators with a local search. The effect of the use of multiple sources on the available information is also studied.
