Within the celebrations of the hundredth anniversary of the birth, the book studies the relationship between Spinelli and movements, associations, and men that fought in the post war period to the European unification. It is an impressive network of interpersonal connections, arising from the breadth and the duration of such efforts for Europe, which puts Spinelli at the centre of the process of unification of the Continent after World War II. In the volume edited by Daniela Preda, the editor has published a critical introduction and a specific article on “The Congress of the European People”. It is a popular campaign, following the example of the Indian Congress of Gandhi, initiated by Spinelli, in collaboration with Mario Albertini, in Europe in 1957 and ended in the early Sixties. The aim of the campaign was the mobilization of all forces pro-Europe and the convening of a European Constituent Assembly.
