The possibility of applying risk analysis procedures to the valuation of a multi-phase short sea shipping scheme, at very high speed, has been investigated. This activity is part of a research program on short sea shipping funded by the Italian Ministry of Transportation and chaired by CETENA. The “Formal Safety Assessment” approach, as formulated by IMO, is analysed to identify a possible way for implementing an assessment procedure to the present case. Starting from already existing studies, possible applications of the same Risk Analysis concepts to very high speed ferry boat are outlined, in order to discuss the potentiality of the method.

Abstract
The possibility of applying risk analysis procedures to the valuation of a multi-phase short sea shipping scheme, at very high speed, has been investigated. This activity is part of a research program on short sea shipping funded by the Italian Ministry of Transportation and chaired by CETENA. The “Formal Safety Assessment” approach, as formulated by IMO, is analysed to identify a possible way for implementing an assessment procedure to the present case. Starting from already existing studies, possible applications of the same Risk Analysis concepts to very high speed ferry boat are outlined, in order to discuss the potentiality of the method.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
