The study points out that the EU accession to the ECHR has been discussed since 1979 but it has now become topical after the ratification of so-called Treaty of Lisbon which provides for the EU accession to the ECHR. Of such membership, which subjects the acts of the UE to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights, we analyze the benefits that will accrue to non-privileged applicants so far non satisfactorily protected by the Court of Justice.

Abstract
