The article analyzes the presence of the city of Genoa in the saga of Captain Alatriste, entertaining character created by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez Reverte. It deepens the close economic collaboration between Genoa and Spain, the participation of distinguished Genoese men in some military campaigns of the Spanish empire – Ambrogio Spinola, among others – and some cultural aspects of the Kingdom of Genoa, described with a wealth of details in the six volumes comprising the adventures of Captain Alatriste.
