The volume Historical Grammar of the Russian Language comprises part of the project that has been put into practice at the University of Genoa’s Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures for students specializing in Russian at the university level. The Russian program begins with the first-year text, Descriptive Grammar of the Russian Language, which addresses fundamental questions of phonetics, phonology, orthography and ortoepy in modern Russian; the second-year text, Course in Paleoslavic, provides a foundation for the diachronic description of the Slavic languages in general and of the Russian language in particular. The program concludes at the third year with Historical Grammar of the Russian Language, which describes the development of the Russian language from its origins to today.
