Über den Beitrag der Religionsphilosophie zum interreligiösen Dialog

This paper deals with the problem of a dialogical relationship among religions as a process which necessarily requires understanding and comparing one another as well as having a notion of religion as such. Philosophy is involved in this relationship not only by the task of conceiving religion, or pointing out the dialogical constitution of man, but also by the need of clarifying how the specificity and truth content of each religion can be attained only by both receptive and critical, therefore dialogical understanding. The connections of these tasks are shown by examining a few conceptions of the dialogue among religions (Küng, Hick, Panikkar, von Bruck). The main contribution of philosophy to the interreligious dialogue is viewed in the elaboration of a critical-hermeneutical concept of religion as a structural but plural dimension of human being connected to a free search of ultimate meaning and orientation.
