The essay discuss Edoardo Grendi’s ideas about history, from the research agenda based on microanalysis in 1977, to a new interest on topographical history and English local history during the 1990s. These reflections has been accompanied by the interest in new themes and different sources: the themes of post-medieval archaeology and field observation, historical ecology, history of artfacts. Grendi stressed the importance of the procedures for collecting sources, building sequecences and checking correlations.

Abstract

The essay discuss Edoardo Grendi’s ideas about history, from the research agenda based on microanalysis in 1977, to a new interest on topographical history and English local history during the 1990s.
