Examination of the numismatic collecting in Liguria from the 30th of XV century to the XX century, through the Collectiones memory in the local studies and manuscripts or in the cities’ collections by Legacy or gifts. At Genoa collections of ancient coins but also of the local coinage and medieval mint are collecting from the XVIII century as the books of Numismatics in the University Library stand in witness. The example of Domenico Viviani is enlightening (he collected 2.000 volumes of literature and sciences, 13.000 herbarium’ specimens and 2.000 greek and roman coins. In the XIX century other collectors as Santo Varni, Odone of Savoia), Ventimiglia ( Girolamo Rossi), Bordighera (Francesco M. Daziano, Clarence Bicknell), Savona (Cesare Queiriolo, Giovanni Schiappapietra) on the ground of their collections, studied the ancient local history.
