The "Laus Serenae" is the unfinished panegyric that Claudian dedicated to the wife of general Stilicho around 403-404 AD. This thesis aims to provide a new critical edition of the poem (based on the re-examination of 51 manuscripts), an Italian translation, and a line-by-line commentary. The introduction examines how Claudian renewed the literary genre. Moreover, it focuses on the connection between the "Laus Serenae" and figurative art, the ideological intentions hidden in the poem, and the stylistic features that collaborate in their transmission.

Abstract
The "Laus Serenae" is the unfinished panegyric that Claudian dedicated to the wife of general Stilicho around 403-404 AD. The introduction examines how Claudian renewed the literary genre. Moreover, it focuses on the connection between the "Laus Serenae" and figurative art, the ideological intentions hidden in the poem, and the stylistic features that collaborate in their transmission.File in questo prodotto:
