The Municipality of Andora, in the province of Savona, won the tender of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan - PNRR for Digitalization, innovation, competitiveness and culture, aimed at the regeneration of small cultural sites and the attractiveness of historic villages. The project concerns the historic village of Castello and was prepared by the municipal administration following a PUO (Urban Operational Plan) of the previous decade. The PUO was updated in 2023 following the stipulation of the disciplinary obligations connected to the acceptance of funding from the Ministry of Culture for the project called Borgo Castello - Remembering the past to build the future. Given the complexity of the project and aware of its scientific and technical relevance, the municipal Administration involved the University of Genoa in a vast study and research activity preparatory to the realization of the project. This outlines a cultural ‘practice’ and an administrative process that can contribute to the good quality of the results of the operation, despite the very limited time available for the studies, according to the rules of the PNRR. The paper briefly describes the coordinated set of activities entrusted to the University and focuses, above all, on the guidelines for the reconstruction of the numerous ruined buildings that characterize the village, prepared by the Department of Architecture and Design, and included in the PUO update, as well as on the first pre-project explorations planned to support future implementation developments.
