The act of travel is intrinsically linked to the culture and life of man. However, it has become an expression of inequality, being a purely masculine prerogative. This study is born from the curiosity arising precisely from the position of inferiority of the woman-traveler, considering as an objective the recovery and give the right importance to the works of travel Eva Canel and Emilia Serrano. The journey becomes a metaphor for emancipation, for crossing the physical and ideal border between male and female. Women tired of being only companions, restless, adventurous, curious and undaunted women "leave home" leaving Penelope’s cloths waiting for their man. An example of redemption are Eva Canel and Emilia Serrano. The trip for Canel is a continuous act of learning aimed at counting the American lands and their diversities, to get to dilute them in the idea of Ibero-American union that sees a not national but continental unity. For Serrano the trip represents the cure to his discomfort, to become revelation and magic regarding the beauties of the American continent. The ultimate purpose of this study is precisely the analysis of the travel writings of these two authors with the attempt to bring to light important literary works long forgotten.
