The research is structured according to three dimensions of lived spatiality. The first part of the thesis deals with bodily spatiality, the most intimate and basic dimension of subjectivity. Starting from the phenomenological understanding of the Leib the dissertation discusses corporalisation and depersonalisation in depression and melancholia; schizophrenia interpreted as dis-embodiment of the self, and, anorexia as dis-embodiment of the body and conflict of embodiment. The second part focusing on affective spatiality in which it distinguishes between the emotional and atmospheric dimensions. Understanding the elusive nature of the atmosphere allows us to grasp more clearly its alterations in the context of psychopathology. It will be observed how the prodromal phases of some psychoses (especially depression and schizophrenia) can be characterised by atmospheric alterations. We will examine alterations in the atmosphere of the oral sensorium in Hubertus Tellenbach's exposition; the atmospheric alteration with the emergence of the Unheimlichkeit in the prodromal phases of schizophrenia; and finally, we will follow the Daseinsgang of Ludwig Binswanger's Suzanne Urban case, which shows the progressive atmospherisation of spatiality. The third part will outline the dimension of social spatiality: the meaning of the sensus communis will be clarified and the anthropological and cultural aspects of mental illness will be considered. After outlining the levels of the sensus communis, the concept of vulnerability and the pathoplastic role of personality. I will proceed to investigate the relationship between schizophrenia and sensus communis with particular attention to the phenomena of unworlding and antagonism. In this light, it will become clear that the disease, as well as the therapeutic paths the subjects take, cannot be considered in solipsistic terms, but in social terms. For this reason, the last section of the work will be devoted to having-care for madness, i.e. to the social approach that considers madness as a political fact (Laing, Basaglia, Fanon) and therefore strives to deal with it by taking into account inter-corporeality, inter-affectivity, inter-subjectivity and inter-personality.
