Here we present the analysis of the roman pottery retrieved during the excavations carried out by the University of Genoa in the Insula 14 Regio VII at Pompei. In the area of the investigated shops, the nearly complete removal of all the floors, carried out in the first part of the nineteenth century, has allowed a detailed study of the stratigraphic layers to take place and to collect information, not only about several building phases between the end of the third century BC and 79 AD, but also about the socio-economic picture of the period. In particular, the pottery assemblage discarded near a series of small structures, mostly built in earth and wood, and probably used as latrines (II century BC), provides interesting clues about the ceramic used by the families who frequented the space in that period of time.
