Since 2011 with the Fab7 International Conference more and more people are involved in modern means for invention and self-fabrication, creating an international community of civic leaders, makers, freelancers and innovators, which works on new paradigms of industrial economy. Advanced manufacturing and “smart factories” have become topics of high international relevance, intensively debated both in the academic literature and in the practical context. They are highly dependent on the availability of an adequate digital infrastructure and well-functioning logistics systems and they have a number of repercussions for cities and regions. The paper explore the interrelations between Industry 4.0 and urban and architecture design practices according to Fab-City principles.
