The grant is intended to provide a framework on elderly's conditions in Sub Saharan African Countries with specific references to poverty, health and welfare. Africa today but especially the 'sub-Saharan Africa live badly aging. Yet, not long ago, the elderly were considered inexhaustible sources of wisdom. The "old", a definition with no negative connotation in Africa, were always looked after by the family. Their life experience gave one "status" privileged dispensers of advice and life lessons. Today, however, family ties are loosening. Poverty pushes those who have the future ahead of him to reach the cities in the hope of a better future, a job, a bit 'of money. Seniors are then relegated to the "status" of "more mouth to feed." Some are even left to themselves, a real drama knowing that their only 'old-age insurance "is the family.
