Within the history of the 20th century it is interesting to read an obvious but little-known history, which is that history related to the attitude and political approaches taken by the USSR towards the beginning of the European integration process. It is easy to argue how the Kremlin has always been unfavourable to the unification of the Old Continent, but the reasons for this refusal and the subsequent political and diplomatic countermeasures changed during the course of Soviet history. Principally based on material preserved in Russian archives and completed by documents from the National Archives in London, the book aims to rebuild this little-known history, focusing in particular on the Stalin’s period, taking into consideration the attitude towards European unification indicated by Lenin as well.

Abstract
Within the history of the 20th century it is interesting to read an obvious but little-known history, which is that history related to the attitude and political approaches taken by the USSR towards the beginning of the European integration process. It is easy to argue how the Kremlin has always been unfavourable to the unification of the Old Continent, but the reasons for this refusal and the subsequent political and diplomatic countermeasures changed during the course of Soviet history. Principally based on material preserved in Russian archives and completed by documents from the National Archives in London, the book aims to rebuild this little-known history, focusing in particular on the Stalin’s period, taking into consideration the attitude towards European unification indicated by Lenin as well.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
