The good functionality of liver depends to a large extent on its permeability, namely its capacity of receiving a given blood inflow through the portal vein and the hepatic artery. Diseases and surgical treatments may impair this equilibrium with important risks for the patient’s health. Liver permeability is strictly related to its elastic and viscoelastic properties In this work an investigation on the elastic response of ex-vivo rat livers perfused at different income pressures is reported. A relation between elastic modulus and perfusion pressure is demonstrated and is discussed using a poroelastic model of the liver tissue.
