Abstract

The effects of the modal mass ratio ρ on autoparametric one-to-two resonance are investigated by means of a 2dof chain of oscillators. In quadratically coupled systems with small mass associated with higher frequency mode, large oscillation can be induced by transfer of energy from lower frequency. The paper describes the ρ-dependence in the response of quadratically coupled oscillator. The one-to-two resonant manifold in the parameter space is desumed by the linearized model and the dynamical characteristics of the coupling are then summarized.
