This essay is part of a broader research on the item of political decentralisation and its aim is to deepen, in a comparative perspective, a subject which is not well explored by the constitutional science: the relation between Universities and territorial autonomies. The starting point of the study is the idea of academic autonomy in Europe and, after a theoretical research, it focuses on different national models. Besides the Italian experience, which is the object of an extensive juridical analysis, the models of BRD, UK and Spain are studied, exploring critically several aspects, sometime problematic, of the complex relation between Universities and local Institutions.

Abstract

This essay is part of a broader research on the item of political decentralisation and its aim is to deepen, in a comparative perspective, a subject which is not well explored by the constitutional science: the relation between Universities and territorial autonomies. The starting point of the study is the idea of academic autonomy in Europe and, after a theoretical research, it focuses on different national models. Besides the Italian experience, which is the object of an extensive juridical analysis, the models of BRD, UK and Spain are studied, exploring critically several aspects, sometime problematic, of the complex relation between Universities and local Institutions.
