The present essay aims, on the one hand, to exhaustively contextualize Elisabeth von Hessen-Kassel education, highlighting her significant contribution to intellectual life in the court of her father, the Landgrave Moritz von Hessen; on the other hand, it aims to lay the groundwork for a (future) investigation into one of the most extensive translations that the Princess completed, namely the German-language version – left in manuscript – of Francesco Contarini’s La fida Ninfa.
