The Baìo in Sampeyre takes place every five years as a commemoration of the battle from the 10th cen- tury during which the inhabitants of the village de- feated the Saracens; the same applies to the Beò in Bellino. The Baìo de l’Ubac in Frassino and the Loup (wolf) in Chianale are less structured and they do not represent a historical event: they are directly performed as a propitiatory ritual; in the case of the Loup against a wild creature, which is the wolf.
