The interpretation of the sun-analogy in the sixth book of Plato’s Republic is the basis of the Neoplatonic conception of the One-Good. Plotinus, Proclus and Damascius conceive it as the authentic foundation of intelligible reality: the One-Good is the original source of the truth and the identity between being and thought, which essentially characterize the intelligible dimension. The transcendence of the One-Good in relation both to being and thought implies in the conceptions of these authors an increasingly marked awareness of its aporetic nature.

Abstract
The interpretation of the sun-analogy in the sixth book of Plato’s Republic is the basis of the Neoplatonic conception of the One-Good. Plotinus, Proclus and Damascius conceive it as the authentic foundation of intelligible reality: the One-Good is the original source of the truth and the identity between being and thought, which essentially characterize the intelligible dimension. The transcendence of the One-Good in relation both to being and thought implies in the conceptions of these authors an increasingly marked awareness of its aporetic nature.File in questo prodotto:
