Narrating landscapes through rephotography. The case of Varenna Valley (Genoa, Italy). The contribution analyses the transformation of the landscape of the Varenna Valley (GE) through rephotography. Using two private photographic sources (a photographical collection and a collection of postcards), it is possible to compare land uses from the 1930s to the early 2000s with today’s situation, where a generalised rewilding and a return of spontaneous woodland prevails. The article demonstrates the effectiveness of a methodology based on combining a visual approach with the concept of landscape of practice in reconstructing the evolution of a landscape and its current meanings. It also emphasises the preciousness of private photographical collections and serves as preliminary research for further studies on the valley landscape.

Abstract
It also emphasises the preciousness of private photographical collections and serves as preliminary research for further studies on the valley landscape.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
