Human civilization in the twenty-first century depends on the ports for jobs, the transport of energy supplies, raw materials, and finished products. Ports help societies meet their basic needs of food and shelter and they enhance quality of life. A partnership approach can create an integrated knowledge base and management system, adding value to port stakeholders' efforts and building the capacity to address climate-change impacts. The process of adaptation generally begins with identifying the problem, including understanding impacts, risks, opportunities, and vulnerabilities. This is the subject of a great deal of research in the emerging area of climate adaptation. A survey conducted in partnership with the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) found that port operators feel very concerned about these climate-change challenges. The policymakers and practitioners need knowledge, innovative tools, ideas and solutions to deal with the climate-change challenges for ports, transportation, and supply chains.

Abstract
The policymakers and practitioners need knowledge, innovative tools, ideas and solutions to deal with the climate-change challenges for ports, transportation, and supply chains.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
