Orte und Erinnerungen: Breslau im Israelkorpus

In this study, we aimed to analyse the interplay of places and memory as well as their linguistic coding within memory process. From a methodological point of view, we could observe how significant the chronological and topological anchoring of memory is in the thematisation of autobiographical events and how much relevance is attached to the way in which these are expressed linguistically and narratologically. The hypothesis of the close connection between episodic and autobiographical memory and between the chronological and topological anchoring is clearly confirmed by the examples analysed here. Furthermore, it was particularly interesting to trace and bring to light the dynamic identity of social and private spaces inherent in different places at different times.
