In this Chapter, an overview of the results achieved by a team from the CNIT research unit of the University of Genoa is reported. It concerns numerical and experimental results obtained by the application of a microwave imaging approach based on inverse scattering for diagnostics of brain stroke. After discretization of the continuous model, the nonlinear equations of the inverse scattering problem are solved by using different versions of a Newton-based method, which has been developed in the framework of non-conventional Lebesgue spaces. A selection of the obtained reconstruction results, with reference to different imaging configurations and working conditions, is reported. Capabilities and limitations of the proposed approaches are discussed.
