The interior spaces of a cruise ship have taken inspiration several times by those of civil, public and private architecture, in terms of functions and scale. A “floating city”, made up of a heterogeneous set of places (restaurants, theaters, cinemas, dance floors, wellness zones) designed to provide guests moments of leisure and escape from every- day life. Is it therefore possible to think about an even closer osmosis between the two sectors, in order to present a common front in the resolution of a global, design challenge? In the post Covid-19 era, the cruise ship can become a “health bubble”. It will be possible to embark after having tested the negativity of passengers to the virus, through controlled routes and keeping a suitable social distancing.

Abstract
The interior spaces of a cruise ship have taken inspiration several times by those of civil, public and private architecture, in terms of functions and scale. A “floating city”, made up of a heterogeneous set of places (restaurants, theaters, cinemas, dance floors, wellness zones) designed to provide guests moments of leisure and escape from every- day life. Is it therefore possible to think about an even closer osmosis between the two sectors, in order to present a common front in the resolution of a global, design challenge? In the post Covid-19 era, the cruise ship can become a “health bubble”. It will be possible to embark after having tested the negativity of passengers to the virus, through controlled routes and keeping a suitable social distancing.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
