Abstract

“There is an internal, terrestrial Liguria: a more or less deep country of mountains and valleys that is frequented by few, even among the Ligurians, and which remains in the shadows, perhaps because the famous coast attracts all eyes and all preferences”. The research presented here proposes a prototype of “networked” cultural enhancement for those areas of the Ligurian hinterland, which are still little-known today, because they are enclosed between the coastal strip and the watershed that delimits the coastal side of Liguria. It is a project of “cultural networking” spread throughout the local area (through the QR code tool and the creation of a dedicated website), capable of connecting the various scattered historical, archaeological, artistic, landscape and cultural “emergencies”, and disseminating knowledge, both internally and (above all) externally, and thus raising awareness among users and local administrations, engaging a participatory process towards their protection and conservation. Starting from the recovery of ancient trails, a testimony to the crucial role that, in the past, the aforementioned areas played in communication, the main purpose is “network” enhancement of the area, thanks to the involvement of the general public, and especially those user groups, the so-called “infirm”, for whom it is often difficult to enjoy cultural assets and their potential significance, by attracting them with a dissemination tool that is accessible from any smartphone / tablet, the “QR code”, and inserting special tactile maps for the visually impaired.
