The case study of Rogoredo, in relation to its context, appears to be “contention” between two advancing systems - the city and the countryside, which, in a process of mutual advance progressively subtract those elements that for centuries have characterized the landscapes of the Lombard plain. This precarious balance has directed our research work towards the “Hub of the farmhouses”, that is a design to preserves the features of the landscape waiting for to disappear, looking at the Sud Milano Agricultural Park and the silent farmsteads, exploiting the potentialities of the last urban transformations. The Hub is a device able to create a network, to systemize economies, policies, practices and productivity, enhancing the present and latent resources of the territory. It re-proposes the characters of the landscapes - the rows of poplars, the groves, the rotten - and it reinterprets the farmhouses, as a “threshold building” between an inside and an outside, an interior productive agricultural space and an external natural landscape which are crossed by a large public space, i.e. is the farmyard. Flexible and choral spaces to live and work promote new technologies to produce, sale, and host socio-cultural activities. At the same time, the hub has the visual domain over the surrounding landscapes: a large terrace completes the existing buildings, accommodate community spaces and rediscovering the horizon.
