The contribution dwells on the reconstruction of the international and EU sources of law concerning child participation in civil proceedings, with a specific focus on the right of the child to information. In the first section, starting from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989, the chapter analyzes other sources of international law in order to understand whether it is possible to assert the existence of an autonomous right to information. In the second section, the contribution is dedicated to EU law, with an analysis of the progressive involvment of the EU in the promotion of children's rights and of the instruments adopted in the field of judicial cooperation in civil matters.
